The Bradbury Foundation supports creative education with £1,000 donation to Run With It

  • 3rd July 2025

The Bradbury Foundation is delighted to support Run With It with a £1,000 grant to help expand access to their innovative learning programmes for young people in North Lincolnshire.

Run With It is a unique educational initiative that brings learning to life by delivering immersive, real-world experiences for children and young adults. Based in Grimsby and working across the region, the organisation uses creative, hands-on teaching methods to help students develop their Maths and English skills, all while being in inspiring locations such as football stadiums, airports and hotels.

Their programmes go far beyond academic learning. By placing young people in realistic environments and giving them tasks that mirror everyday challenges, Run With It helps them build essential life skills like communication, teamwork and decision-making. Crucially, these sessions also boost self-belief, improve confidence and raise aspirations, particularly for those from areas of high need who may face barriers to traditional learning.

Alison Mitchell, a trustee of The Bradbury Foundation, was recently invited to the MKM Stadium to present the cheque to the charity. While there, she had the opportunity to experience first-hand how the programme operates and the profound impact it has on the children who take part. Children from Willerby Carr Lane School were delighted to join the presentation, with the charity also receiving a commemorative certificate and a Bradbury Bear to mark the occasion.

The grant will enable Run With It to bring its engaging lessons to more schools across North and North East Lincolnshire this year, with sessions taking place in inspiring settings such as Humberside Airport, Scunthorpe United Football Club and Grimsby Town Football Club. By linking Maths and English to real-life environments, the charity helps children see the relevance of learning and opens up new ways for them to thrive.

Melanie Johnson from Run With It said, ‘We’re incredibly grateful to The Bradbury Foundation for this support. This funding will allow us to reach more young people and continue making learning exciting, relevant and meaningful. With demand for alternative, engaging education growing, this funding will help ensure more young people can take part and benefit from an approach that resonates with their interests and future ambitions.’

The Bradbury Foundation believe in investing in people and potential. Supporting organisations like Run With It reflects the foundation’s wider commitment to increasing opportunities for young people and providing support where it is most needed. As part of our mission, we are dedicated to enabling projects that improve education, wellbeing and community connection across Lincolnshire and Yorkshire.

We look forward to seeing the continued success of the Run With It programme and the positive impact it will have on young lives in the months ahead.
