The Bradbury Foundation supports picnic in the park

  • 12th June 2025

The Bradbury Foundation met with The Culture House to present them with a cheque for £1,000 to support the Picnic in the Park.

This series of events will see People’s Park transform into a communal picnic venue, with diverse music performances in the park’s bandstand.

These free events are open to all families and individuals in the area with the aim being to bring people together to relax, share experiences and positive activities, support well-being and loneliness and provide opportunities for musicians and performers to showcase their skills.

The Bradbury Foundation selected this project for its wide reaching appeal and its community spirit, bringing people together and helping to alleviate social isolation.

Representatives from the Bradbury Foundation met with Becky Darnell and Charlotte Bowen from The Culture House to present them with a cheque for £1,000 to support their initiative along with a certificate and Bradbury Bear. Speaking of the grant award, the charity said; “The Culture House are incredibly grateful to The Bradbury Foundation for their generous support of this year's Picnic in the Park series happening in the wonderful green space of People's Park. Without vital funding like this, we simply couldn't continue offering these events for free to the public. As a local charity, we're committed to creating these inclusive and joyful experiences for everyone and we warmly encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to come along. Now in our fifteenth year, we're proud to be celebrating and sharing these special community moments with everyone."

The Bradbury Foundation was established in September 2024 as a grant making foundation. Its aim is to support charitable projects that benefit the communities in Lincolnshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire. The foundation has so far supported seven well deserving projects that span the region and look forward to continuing its grant support.

Alison Mitchell, Trustee said, “Every project we support has a lasting impact for the communities where the projects are based. We are so proud to be supporting these charities and hope to continue funding many more in the future. We are always looking for ways to raise money for the foundation to enable us to carry on supporting these projects, some of which struggle for mainstream funding. If anyone would like to find out how they can help with our fundraising, please do get in touch with us.”

Applications for the third round of grants are now open. To find out more about applying for support or contributing to the Foundation, visit www.thebradburyfoundation.org or email hello@thebradburyfoundation.org.
