January is the most common month of the year for setting up new businesses, with data from previous years showing a 10% spike in new start-ups during the first month of the year.
Buoyed by their new year’s resolutions, many prospective business owners see January as the perfect opportunity to take those all-important first steps into becoming their own boss.
Yet statistics show that less than half of SME start-ups in the UK will survive beyond the first five years of existence. With thousands of other businesses to compete with, new companies can quickly get swallowed up by a crowded marketplace if they don’t have a proper plan in place.
Forrester Boyd has worked with enough businesses to know what it takes to be successful. Our ‘Starting a new business’ checklist provides a list of important steps which all new start-ups should follow.
Do you know how to write a business plan? Have you decided on a structure for your business? What are you going to do about finance? Have you thought about what software you’ll need for your business and accounting?
From naming your business to developing your brand, our advice maps out the crucial steps which all new businesses should take in their first few months. If you’re starting up this month, then download our handy checklist now.
