A North East Lincolnshire charity providing life-changing equestrian therapy for people with disabilities has received a £1,000 grant from The Bradbury Foundation to support its ongoing recovery and future plans.
Representatives from The Bradbury Foundation recently visited Cleethorpes & Grimsby Riding for the Disabled at their new premises at Grange Farm in Barnoldby-Le-Beck, Waltham to present the cheque and see first-hand the impact of their work within the local community.
Cleethorpes & Grimsby Riding for the Disabled, which has been supporting riders for nearly 40 years, offers specialist equestrian activities designed to improve physical ability, confidence, and wellbeing for people with a wide range of disabilities.
The group has faced significant challenges over the past year, including the loss of two horses and rising costs, but remains committed to rebuilding and expanding its services. Having recently relocated, the charity is now focused on getting its new facility fully operational, including installing electrics to support its mechanical horse, an important training aid for riders.
The grant from The Bradbury Foundation will contribute towards these ongoing efforts, helping the charity continue to provide vital support to its current riders while working to grow its capacity.
Looking ahead, the group is aiming to purchase another horse to replace those lost and meet increasing demand, with a waiting list already in place.
Alison Mitchell, Trustee from The Bradbury Foundation said: “We are delighted to support Cleethorpes & Grimsby Riding for the Disabled. Their work has a profound impact on individuals and families across the region, and it was inspiring to visit their new site and see their dedication first-hand. Despite recent challenges, their ambition and commitment to their riders is clear.”
A representative from Cleethorpes & Grimsby Riding for the Disabled added: “This support means a great deal to us. The past year has been incredibly difficult, but this funding will help us take important steps forward as we rebuild. Our goal is to continue providing opportunities for people with disabilities to experience the physical and emotional benefits of riding.”
The charity relies heavily on donations and volunteer support to continue its work and is encouraging local businesses and individuals to get involved as it develops its new base and plans for the future.
