Forrester Boyd and The Bradbury Foundation appeal for support after Thieves Target Local Gardening Project

  • 18th February 2025

Partners and staff at Forrester Boyd were dismayed to learn that a cherished local community gardening project had been targeted by thieves over the weekend.

The heartbreaking news, reported by the BBC, revealed that Grimsby in Bloom, which manages and maintains the community garden in West Marsh, had its storage container broken into resulting in the theft of essential equipment, including petrol generators, lawnmowers, and wheelbarrows.

The attack on this cherished community initiative struck a particular chord with The Bradbury Foundation, Forrester Boyd’s charitable trust. The foundation had recently approved grant funding for a new Grimsby in Bloom project, recognising the group’s commitment to creating and maintaining green spaces that bring pride and joy to local residents.

Philip George, Partner at Forrester Boyd and Trustee of The Bradbury Foundation, expressed his deep frustration at the crime: “I am utterly dumbfounded as to why anyone would steal from a community group that works tirelessly to enhance Grimsby’s green spaces. The Grimsby in Bloom team, alongside their dedicated volunteers, pour their hearts into making our community a better place. While we’re delighted to be supporting their new project, this theft is yet another challenge they now have to overcome.”

In response, Forrester Boyd and The Bradbury Foundation are calling on local businesses and individuals to help Grimsby in Bloom recover from this setback. Whether through fundraising efforts, equipment donations, or financial support, any assistance will help the team replace the stolen tools and continue their invaluable work.

“We work with many businesses across the region, and we hope to raise awareness of this situation so that Grimsby in Bloom can get back on its feet. The volunteers need the right tools to carry on their fantastic work for our community,” added Philip George.
