What will your days look like?

No two days are the same in this role. You will have the freedom to manage your own workload and the support of a friendly and down‑to‑earth team. Your week might include:

  • Providing bookkeeping and management accounting services to farmers, landowners, and rural enterprises.
  • Processing sales, purchase, and nominal ledgers, including livestock and crop transactions.
  • Completing bank and loan reconciliations, including seasonal lending arrangements.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns, including agricultural flat‑rate and partial exemption schemes.
  • Advising clients on accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and agricultural systems including Farmplan.
  • Supporting clients with grant claims, capital allowance records, and diversified income streams such as holiday lets or renewable energy.
  • Preparing management reports and assisting with year‑end accounts.
  • Communicating directly with clients to answer queries and offer practical financial insight.
  • Travelling to client premises across the local area.

This is a role where you will be trusted to get on with things, encouraged to share your ideas, and supported to build strong relationships with clients who genuinely value your help.

Who we’re looking for

You will ideally have strong experience in bookkeeping within an agricultural or rural business environment. An AAT Level 4 qualification (or equivalent experience) is preferred, although we’re equally open to those who are qualified by experience.

You will also bring:

  • Solid experience with ledgers, reconciliations, and VAT.
  • Confidence using cloud accounting software and a willingness to learn farm‑specific systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to build rapport with farming families.
  • The ability to work independently and meet deadlines, especially during seasonal peaks.
  • An organised, reliable, and approachable manner.

If you have a genuine interest in the agricultural sector and enjoy working closely with clients, we’d love to hear from you.
