Bridging Business with Boots and Biscuits

  • 25th June 2025

It was the week of the big net walking event that Matt Priest, Steve Degg, and the marketing team at Forrester Boyd organised.

We spent quite a long time preparing, but one thing we couldn’t prepare for was the weather. At the start of the week, it didn’t look great.

Cue a last-minute email going around to everyone to warn them about the terrain and to bring appropriate footwear.

Tuesday morning, the day before, it looked worse. We woke up to what can only be described as a thunderstorm. All we could do was hope.

Come the day of the event, and our luck was in. The weather had turned; it was a sunny day, warm but not too warm for a walk. We essentially struck lucky with what you can only describe as the perfect weather.

It was Humber Biz week, which we know is a busy week for everyone and a busy week in terms of events. Although we had positive numbers signed on, we didn’t know what to expect.

However, the turnout was brilliant. We didn’t do a headcount, but would hazard a guess at 40+ people from both sides of the bridge, which is no easy feat.

The walk itself was a great stroll through nature around the Humber Bridge Country Park, with many locals noting that they’ve never actually been to the area before.

It was a pleasant route with the exception of the never-ending stairs at the end, but we all managed to make it up and make it back for coffee and biscuits.

The local team did brilliantly, providing the coffee and serving everyone. We all basked in the sunshine afterward, resting with a drink for a good 20 minutes, because of course, you need a good rest after a good walk!

The feedback from the event has been extremely positive, with one person in particular commenting that it had been the best event of the week. The feedback was so good that Matt Priest and Steve Degg are looking to make these events more regular.

Our next netwalking event will take place at Cadwell Park on Tuesday 15th July and we'd love for you to join us. Find out more and sign up here.
