£4,500 Raised For The Cystic Fibrosis Trust
- 23rd September 2025
On Saturday, our team took on one of the most demanding fundraising challenges in the UK — the Yorkshire Three Peaks — to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
The challenge began at 5.45am with the team setting off towards Ingleborough, the first of the three peaks. By the time they reached the summit at 7.15am, conditions had deteriorated so badly that visibility was reduced to only a few meters. Mist, rain and mud set the tone for the long day ahead.
By mid-morning the group had summited Pen-y-Ghent. However, the elements did not ease their grip. Rain turned to hail and sleet, with strong winds making the ascent even more demanding. Spirits remained high, with team members supporting and motivating one another as they pressed on towards the next stage of the challenge — an eight-mile stretch across the open countryside to Whernside.
The approach to Whernside proved to be the toughest part of the day. Torrential rain had transformed paths into streams, while fog and gale force winds made the climb both difficult and dangerous. Between 3pm and 4pm, the team finally reached the summit, encountering mountain rescue along the way. The views were completely obscured, yet simply standing at the top was a significant achievement given the conditions.
With every item of clothing soaked and boots waterlogged, the final two miles back to Chapel-le-Dale tested the team’s endurance to the limit. Relief and pride were palpable when they finally crossed the finish line, completing the challenge with time to spare. Later, the group gathered at their hotel to dry off, warm up and enjoy a well-earned drink together.
Despite the extreme conditions, the team successfully completed the challenge and raised an incredible £4,500 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The charity plays a vital role in supporting those living with the condition and funding research into improved treatments.
The Three Peaks Challenge showcased the determination, teamwork and shared commitment of all of our team and they should feel proud of what they achieved — both on the mountains and for the cause they supported.
