I started working in tax in 2000 and qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2003.
Originally focussing on personal tax I spent a number of years advising high net worth families on tax planning and trusts before making a jump to corporate tax. I then spent a number of years advising on corporate tax planning and business reconstructions, before returning to a more ‘mixed tax’ role.
I joined Forrester Boyd in 2020 and as Tax Partner I oversee both our personal and corporate tax staff and find my broad background extremely helpful in advising owner managed businesses, where a number of different taxes are likely to interact and a holistic view is required.
Although based from our Lincoln office I provide tax support to staff and clients across all the Forrester Boyd offices.
Interests
I like the outdoors, so after spending much of the week behind a desk I like to get out and about, walking or just enjoying time outside with my family. I have been involved in Scouting for over 10 years and love the opportunities this gives to children in my community and worldwide. I enjoy travelling to different places and like a bit of adventure. I have recently returned from Namibia, having travelled over 3,500km camping in a roof tent, so I am now trying to decide where our next epic trip will take us!
If you weren’t an accountant, what would you be?
I love planning holidays, especially those that are slightly ‘off the beaten track’, so if I hadn’t chosen a career in tax I think I may have enjoyed being a bespoke travel planner.
