Partner - Chartered Certified Accountant
I started my career in accountancy in 1999 opting for the apprenticeship route with Kaplan in 2000. I qualified in 2006 and gained my membership in March 2007.
I joined Forrester Boyd in 2016 and became a Partner in October 2020. I have loved helping to build up the North Bank presence.
I enjoy working with all types of clients, with a particular interest in new start-ups and the construction industry. I like to be fully involved with a client’s business, help implement systems and processes and be part of their growth, for me this is the most rewarding part of my role. I think it’s really important to understand a client’s business and build a good professional relationship, this means that you can be more proactive rather than reactive.
Interests
I’m a married mother with two teenage girls. My husband has his own business so this has been a great advantage to me as it’s helped me to understand the challenges that business owners face on a day to day basis. In my own time, I love to do anything fitness related, though my favourite activities are weight training in the gym and boxing (coaches with pads – not people!). If I have some additional spare time (which is rare) – I also love to play netball. I used to play to a high standard pre children, nowadays you’ll still find me on a netball court….but supporting my two daughters instead. I’m also a very social person and love to spend time with my friends.
If you weren’t an accountant, what would you be?
If I wasn’t an Accountant I would probably be a teacher or a sports coach. I love being able to help people and pass on knowledge. In fact one of my accountancy tutors tried to get me to change direction and become a tutor teaching accountancy! He said my strength was being able to speak to people on all levels and in a relatable way. I try and always remember that now, especially when I have new start up clients. Accountancy is not their strength which is why they need us, however they need to be able to understand what you are advising!
